how to get a skatepark in your town

CONTACT A SKATEPARK DESIGN & BUILD COMPANY

It Is never too early on in your project to contact a skatepark company. The top companies use only the best construction methods and are specialists in what they do. Starting a relationship with them early on will help your project progress more quickly.

When you are starting out, you are going to need to show to people the sort of thing you have in mind, design/s that you might like to have as your new park. You’re going to need a few designs to print out, or show to people on a laptop or tablet.

Remember, some of the people you are going to need to have supporting you in order to achieve your goal will have no idea as to what a modern skatepark will look like.

GET SOME DESIGN VISUALS

It will be much easier to gain support for your project if you have some designs of possible options to show people so that they have an idea of what you have in mind. Any company should be willing to send you design visualisations of different parks they have completed and what they cost.

Having some designs and approximate costings will help your council to fully understand what it is that you are proposing and it will give them an idea of the possible budget of the project.

CALL UP A SKATEPARK COMPANY

Find out their contact details from their website or social media and call them up. Explain who you are, who you represent and what you need. They should be friendly and very willing to comply with your request for some designs of parks they've built. After all, you could well be a future customer. If they fail to email or post you what you need in a timely manner, that might be an indication that they're not very well organised. If they can't complete such a simple task, then this may be an indication that they may not be the company that you wish to choose to build your skatepark.

DO YOU HAVE TO USE THE FIRST COMPANY YOU APPROACH AS YOUR SUPPLIER?

No. Just because you have communicated with a supplier about your new project does not mean that you have to use this company for your project.

A common mistake made by people involved in skatepark advocacy is to have a preference for the first company they ever spoke to, and eventually deciding to proceed with them as a supplier whilst not realising that they are not a very good skatepark builder.

SELECTING A SKATEPARK SUPLLIER

Choosing a poor skatepark supplier will hurt your project and you will end up with a poorly constructed sub-standard skatepark that does not last as long as it should. It will be the most important decision you make on your skatepark project.

Before selecting a supplier you will do a lot of research and checks. In the future you will most likely undertake a formal selection process before making such an important and crucial decision regarding the success of your project. We will cover this in a lot of detail later on.

By starting a relation with a supplier you will gain an understanding of how professional they are and how they operate. Later on this information will help you to decide which company to select as your supplier.

We'll be adding full details on the supplier selection process as we develop this site.
